Writing a Press Release
A press release is simply a statement prepared for distribution to the press.
Issuing a press release to the media can be an excellent way of gaining publicity. Not only is it inexpensive it is a way of getting a professional endorsement or recommendation which is far more effective than advertising.
The main objective of a successful press release is getting it read by the journalist and getting the information published.

The most important elements of the press-release are the heading, a clear and engaging text, careful selection of recipients, and good timing of release.

Format
Formatting your press release is very important. In order to get your release read it is important that they conform to Journalist standards. Journalists receive so many releases they need to see the information quickly. Studies show that an editor spends an average of only 5 seconds reading a press release before he decides to use it or lose it.
Standard Press release format
Press release should be printed on company letterhead.( the company name, address, telephone number and web address and e mail should be printed clearly)
PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Should be spelled out in Bold at the top.
Subject Title should be to the point and informative and intriguing.
Double spacing Content should be double spaced in black ink and white paper.
Keep it short -The Press release nearly always be under a page, maximum 2 pages.
Include the date on the first page.
Contact details can be at the bottom or top; name, address, tel no. E mail, web address. Clearly state the contact person for the release so they can be easily contacted by the press.
Put some ### at the end of the release
